Plum Fest Celebration returns to Pershore this weekend

Pershore’s popular Plum Festival returns this Sunday 25 and Monday 26 August with a showcase of plums, cookery and gardening demonstrations, classic cars, live music, and a fairground.

Foodie lovers can salivate while watching cookery demonstrations by Saku Chandrasekera, Herefordshire Great British Bake Off contestant; Mark and Sue Stinchcombe, former MasterChef: The Professionals champions; and talented local Italian restaurateur and TV chef personality Felice Tocchini of Feli’s, near Pershore.

The festival will also be welcoming back ex-BBC Presenters of Wot's Cooking and Wot's Gardening, Katie and Glyn Johnson as hosts who will lead the full programme of demonstrations.

Live music, plum-based food and drink, merchandise and horticulture advice from the Vale Landscape Heritage Trust and Danter’s Fun Fair will be at the festival as well the iconic Plum Alley.

Pershore Plum Festival celebrates the humble plum which has made this town famous. In 1827, a local publican discovered the Pershore Plum growing wild in Tiddesley Wood, Pershore. There are two Pershore plums today: July Purple and the late August Yellow. Plum representatives Prunella the Pershore Purple Plum, Eggbert the Yellow Egg Plum, Queen Victoria, and the Plum Posse will be available for pictures across the weekend.

Angela Taylor, Chair of the Pershore Plum Festival, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to the beautiful town of Pershore for this exceptional event. There is something for all to enjoy!

“I would like to pass my thanks onto the volunteers, local business and organisations who make this event possible with sponsorship and their time. Without them – it just would not be possible. Abbey Park Pershore will also be showing four films on Saturday 24 August on a big LED screen for all the family to watch. Bring a picnic and enjoy Frozen at 11am, followed by Wonka at 1pm. Next up is Top Gun: Maverick at 3.15pm, and the day closes with Mamma Mia at 5.45pm.
