Community workshop for Droitwich Spa Town Centre mural

Residents are invited to a free event to unleash their inner artists to create a mural in the centre of Droitwich Spa Town Centre.

The two-hour ideas session on Friday 12 July from 4pm will see community members and organisations get involved in idea gathering, get creative with hands-on activities and help choose the final design. Residents are urged to sign-up now for the workshop, as there are fifteen spaces available.

The mural will be installed on The Talbot pub and work is expected to be completed by April next year. The project is a joint effort between Wychavon and Droitwich Spa Place Board. It is being funded through Wychavon’s share of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, part of the Government’s Levelling Up Agenda.

Once installed, the artwork will support the popular Droitwich Spa Underpass Art Project which saw seven underpasses turned into works of art the community helped create.

Matt Nicol, Chair of Droitwich Spa Place Board, said: “We’re committed to making the high street a focus for the town and to entice new visitors to the area. I’m really excited to understand what residents come up with at this workshop.”

Cllr Rob Adams, Executive Board Member for Strong Communities, Culture and Sport on Wychavon District Council, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of this exciting workshop. Droitwich Spa has had some incredible artworks installed already and I’m looking forward to adding another reason for people to come and explore all our wonderful town has to offer.

“The success of the Droitwich Underpass Art Project was built on the involvement of the community, so I urge people to get involved and help us create something amazing for our town centre.”
